June is Seniors Month

The Nova Scotia Securities Commission is launching a new page on their website in June focusing on “Investing Information for Seniors.” This website will include two new printable information sheets:

“Protecting Seniors from Investment Fraud”

&

“Financial Elder Abuse: Know the Signs, Know What to Do”,

and a new online guide:

“Safe Investing for Seniors: Recognizing fraud and financial elder abuse.”

The website will also have content for seniors on investing for retirement, investment fees, registration and investment risk. The page nssc.novascotia.ca/seniors will go live today in time for World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15.

Throughout the month, the Commission will also be launching a new animated video series highlighting financial elder abuse. These three short videos will look at

“Are you or a loved one vulnerable to financial elder abuse?”

“What are the warning signs of financial elder abuse?”

“Start the conversation. Talking about financial elder abuse.”

A new video will be posted on the Commission's website and YouTube channel the last three Fridays in June starting on June 14. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel by searching for "Nova Scotia Informed Investor” on YouTube – or follow this link.
