Our Investing Information for Seniors page also includes links to our two seniors’ video series.

Throughout June the Commission will also continue to highlight new amendments to securities laws at the end of 2021 to enhance protections for older and vulnerable investors. These enhanced protections included encouraging investors to assign a trusted contact person and allowing advisers to institute a temporary hold if they suspect abuse, or in other very specific instances. Watch our blog and social channels, including Twitter and LinkedIn for more information on trusted contact persons and temporary holds.
The Commission will present Recognizing Financial Elder Abuse & Investment Fraud at the Halifax Central Library on Tuesday, June 14 from 12-1 p.m. During this informative session attendees will learn what financial elder abuse is, some of the vulnerabilities and warning signs, and what to do if you think a loved one may be a victim. We will also examine the red flags of investment fraud to help attendees recognize and avoid investment fraud.
