June is Seniors Month

Tomorrow is the start of seniors month. Throughout June the Nova Scotia Securities Commission will be sharing investor education content relevant to seniors and delivering presentations to seniors groups. Here is a look at some of the content, and presentation we have scheduled:

Before You Invest Blog:

Our Before You Invest blog will take a closer look at recent enhancements made to securities laws around trusted contact persons and temporary holds, meant to better protect older and vulnerable investors. We will also examine how some fraudsters specifically target older investors and some of the red flags to watch out for. On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (June 15) a special blog post will identify some of the warning signs that someone may be a victim of financial elder abuse.

Social Media Posts:

Follow NSSC on Social Media where we’ll be sharing new and evergreen content aimed at older investors. This will include our Investing Information for Seniors webpage, videos on financial elder abuse, and our investing guides and information sheets developed for seniors.
